Japan - Day 12: Not a cloud in sight
Off to Miyajima today, which is a huge torii thing in the middle of water! First time catching a ferry in japan too, it was the type that lets cars hop on!

Here is the view from the wharf!…
Now, here are some interesting facts about Myajima: total population is 2500, of that 15 are people. Now… what makes up the rest you are probably wondering??

Deer are president now. They run everything. I saw one kick a girl in the head because she wouldnt give him some corn on a stick (not kidding). They are cool though, and they are just walking around everywhere letting people pet them and take photos of them at lewd angles.
Annnnyway, here are the pictures:

This torii is small time.

Now we’re talking! This bad boy was actually carved from an even larger torii almost 700 years ago by a legendary samurai. Due to the fear locals still have of this long dead hero, they put all their coins in the base of the gate as soon as the tide is low enough to do so.

Pretty cool place.

now, some of you didnt believe me when i showed you the early version of a manhole cover… but here we are! TOLD

Cool little stream that goes through the town. Deer like to hang out here.

Water is starting to go down, so people are already rushing out to pay tribute. Also note in the centre, the 5 tier pagoda. I couldnt get any better shot really, so dont expect one.

These people are just enslaved by every animal that turns up! Surprisingly these arent related to the carp king, but they had heard of each other.
There were meant to be lots of photos from up a mountain path i went, but i guess i only took a couple and they werent that great…. So ill just pretend it never happened and continue with the rest of the day.
There was a temple type thing here which houses a heritage listed object. as usual it costs to get in, but just 300¥ so no problem yo.

Inside the temple were all the usual temple fare: drinking tepid water, shaking a stick around that has paper on the end, throwing coins at private property etc etc.
Then came the real deal, the sole reason this entire island is heritage listed

oh my god, check out those joins. This is the first known verandah in existence, and so they have this baby protected with a wooden barrier, a rope barrier and also hundreds of incantations to prevent weather damage.

OH MAN!!!!! I TOOK A PICTURE OF THIS!!! IM A GOD. This is the deer that had to put a girl back in her place. note the corn in her dads hand, since the deer went back for round two later.

Please give a fuck at all times.

There were so many pictures of horses getting ridden through water… I dont know if these are all here as a users guide of what not to do…

Obviously he didnt read the rules above

Used by soothsayers of years past, this fortune compass would point out the location of the 12 legendary dragonballs; this was later cut down to 7 due to the laziness of the japanese people.

B-b-b-back dat deer ass up.

Due to the difficulty in catching birds, falconry was often done using midgets, which were in abundance.

Later, robot arms with heat seeking laser beams and spinning katana wings were added.

SAY THAT TO MY FACE DAMN HORSE

wow… great effort with your diorama, miyajima… /clap

Spoon made for gaijin. apaprently miyajima invented the rice spoon and then it proliferated across the world.

Majin buu apparently has his own chain of high powered ferries around these parts!

I told you i would put up a picture of okinomiyaki didnt i??! well here it is! this one had a bonus egg!!!

Later we went to the A-Bomb memorial dome and park, which, being night time wasnt the best for taking pictures… or viewing things… or being warm. Im hoping to go back in the morning before we head on to our next location. Yes, the place is actually glowing green from radiation, and there were mirelurks in the water.

!!!!
So thats it for today! Again, im sorry for all this tourist level crap, ill try get some super interesting things done!!!
